Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement presented at the time of booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This document outlines the applicable terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for that rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence for the appropriate vehicle category is required, held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. You will also need to present valid identification and proof of your current address. Ensure you have valid payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or at our Telford location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle pickup. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, a comprehensive inspection is required to identify and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. It is necessary to return the vehicle in the same condition, accounting for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Please ensure the vehicle is returned with the same amount of fuel as when it was collected; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic infractions, or other charges incurred during your rental, in addition to an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance coverage. You can find full details and excess amounts in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability, and it is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the stated excess, except where additional insurance applies. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on your booking type and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for illegal purposes is strictly prohibited. This includes engaging in racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials or substances is not allowed. Vehicles must not be sub-let or driven by unauthorized individuals. Operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. Additionally, using the vehicle for purposes it was not designed for, exceeding passenger or weight limits, or driving beyond agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Telford is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This exclusion does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
10. Amendments to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
